Mermaids: A Body Found

Description

I recently watched the Animal Planet documentary called, Mermaids: The Body Found, and found it to be quite enjoyable. (Besides the fact that it was fake of course). Anyhow, I really like how they reimagined the mermaids. Not like fairytale mermaids in any way other than that they both have tails, I thought they were very original. A little scary at first though, I have to admit, but as I watched more of the documentary, I found myself less and less scared of their appearance. In fact, towards the end of the film and even now, I find them to be quite intreguing and even beautiful. Thus, me attempting to sketch the main Merman in the film.

That is so touching. I imagine the warning he gave to his pod before the meg ate him would’ve been similar to the Carnotaur warning in Disney’s Dinosaur.

Alpha Merman: “Hey!”

No response.

Alpha Merman: “GUYS!”

The pod turns its attention to the lone creature.

Alpha Merman: “Megalodon!”

Mother Mermaid: “What? He never comes this far North!”

Alpha Merman: “The migrating whales must’ve driven him out.”

Merman#1: “You led him right to us!”

The Merman starts cutting himself with his spear, causing him to bleed excessively.

Alpha Merman: “I love you all soooo much. Go. Go now! GO!”

Merman#2: “We gotta go now!”

Young Mermaid: “Mommy? What’s going on?”

Mother Mermaid: “Megalodon. If we don’t keep moving, he’ll catch up to us.”

Young Mermaid: “But...Daddy! He’ll never make it!

Mother Mermaid: He’s slowing down the predator.”

Young Mermaid: “HE CAN’T SACRIFICE HIMSELF LIKE THIS!”

Mother Mermaid: “We gotta move!”

The Young Mermaid goes to her siblings.

Young Mermaid: “Let’s go. Let’s go! Megalodon!”

Youngest sibling: “Mega-what?”

Oldest sibling: “Megalodon! A 70 foot shark with a ravenous appetite, lets go!”
